We should be able to offer one able bodied crew, to any visiting boats.

We can probably put together one working old Lark between the four we have. Preferably NOT the one that nearly sank at Shearwater!

Could we have a final fix for the date and could I invite the old Larks too as the class is trying to get a classic section going.

I've not managed to contact the OOD yet, but I'm sure it will be OK, so lets go for 8th February 2009! Larks go well at Whitefriars, so it would be good to see a few. What are the Lark criteria for a classic?

Any Baker built boats and possibly some of the Parker mk 1 - they are all over 25 years old anyway, even Sandy's ex-Edinburgh Uni "can't find the correct number and the sails must be off a later Parker boat but that sail number will do" Baker.

Do you have a definitive Lark "before" sail number?

I am trying to publicise this amongst the classic phantoms, but their website is not very well at the moment. I have at least managed to put it on their Yahoo group.

Hi! Happy Christmas (still).

8th Feb then - whoppie!

I will be sailing either my GRP Finn or the Hopple (ex-Rupert Moth), the other is therefore available as a loan boat if anyone wants to travel but can or will not bring a boat. I'd rather sail the Finn but do not mind the Moth. Unless its windy when I'd rather sail the Moth! Anyhow - let me know if you would like to borrow either, and we can sort out a definite choice before the event.

Tom, 15yrs and 10St is willing and in fact very keen to crew for anyone - non trapeze preferred. If his offer of local knowledge, low price etc (a kitKat or two) is not taken up he will sail our topper in the clubs programmed race. Surely a fate someone will rescue him from. Actually our topper is almost old enough to qualify to race with us :lol: but I do NOT want him to beat me on handicap... ... ... :evil:

He could borrow the glass Topper that hangs around in the boat park? Stuart Cross could help on who to ask, and as they aren't able to race with plastic ones, are perfect lost class fodder! And he might even win on handicap!

Hm - the GRP topper is close to ours on the racks. I will ask about that.

Is anyone planning to come to this meeting from Netley? The reason for asking is that our Peggie's spin pole is still there, waiting collection. I've not had any chance to go near there yet.

John,

can you describe your pole again? I went down to Netley and it has been placed with a couple of others......

I aim to be at Whitefriars so should be able to bring it along!

Hi;

Pole is tapered, superspars I think. Purply-pink trip line between the ends. Has an elliptical pole ring trapped on using that trip line.

Hope that's enough info?

And - THANK YOU;

see you in a few weeks;

I did post details of this in the phantom forum, but really wish I hadn't bothered. They seem to think that because the helms are as aged as their boats, they will not turn out.

The words 'pathetic' and 'ungrateful' immediately spring to mind. :evil:

You're all going to have to start thinking about the who did what and why in time for WhiteFriars.

My intention to to do a promotional 'podcast' for the classics, either on a stand alone basis or as part of another podcast that covers others events. You'll have to be patient with me, there is little in the way of help or training for this (unless I want to go back to being a 'youf' and take up 'Media studies' - as is evident in my first attempt at this for the Bloody Mary.

BUT...get this right and this could work well into the future!

http://bearfacemedia.co.uk/Bloodymary2009.aspx

BTW..... when I'd doing the interviews, PLEASE will no one ask me what I'm sailing in 2009.... an rs WHAT??

Hi Rupert

Sorry cannot make Feb 8th as I am in Llandudno for a MS meeting that weekend.

Shame as it would have been good to give the force 5 a go.

It will however be avaialable at Clywedog for the Premier event along with my Peggies.
