Jon,

have just seen the final forecast - a 'brisk/strong' northerly breeze

Let's try and finish a race this time!!!

D

PS - be very scared: heard tonight that the count on Teras for next weekend is now 65 confirmed. If you get over 70 then it's time and a half with a day off in lieu!

Many Thanks to all the team at Bough Beech for a very invigorating days sailing, just off to soak in a bath for a few hours!! Yes the major parts of the boat held together!!!! We just pulled one block off and tore the spinnaker, and considering the forecast of 35mph winds (I actually think it went above that!), it's a marvel!!

Great race officer decisions, it's very hard to call an abandonment (Let alone twice!)

See you all at Thames..

Just a couple of words of thanks, one to the Bough beech crowd and the Race Officer for sparing me the last race, and the other to the CVRDA members who made me feel very welcome on my first event.

The eagle eyed may have noticed the capsize straight off the beach to lubricate the slide as recommended on these pages.

Peter, she looked really good though, although I think you pushed us hard on handicap. Great to see such an historic boat out!!

Shamless plug coming  , it would be great to see her sailing during Oulton Week!!

Thanks to all for my first visit. From both myself and little Chris. Especially our helms!

A prize as well - Nobody more suprised than I, after having been looking at most people's transoms for most of the Day

Was it the Cotton sails? Or the fact that we finished all the races?......Or a bit of both..?

Hope to be bringing my own boat in due course...

I've just got in too. A great day - hard work though - but I was quite glad I had my cortton sails up as the smaller area helped us stay in control - well most of the time. I was quite surprised they stayed in one piece though so 60 year Egyptian cotton does stay good as long as the mice or mildew hasn't got there first. Nothing broke which is also a relief too.
So thanks to all at Bough Beech for a great day's sailing and races which were well considered for the vintage...helms!

Thanks to Steve and Chris for excellent crewing duties too, see you again soon I hope.

Chris, to get round with cotton sails in those conditions was lovely to see, and very brave!! We were not happy with the way our sails looked, and they were newer than yours!! (although to look at them, you would not have thought so!!). Maybe we need to get some cotton sails as a go fast soloution!!.

Great too see all the Merlins there, and to see the differences in designs through the years...
