National Rally at Whitefriars

Post by Rupert »

Less than 2 months to go, and only 2 events (Thames and Clywedog) before the National Rally at Whitefriars.

Loads of information and links up already on the events page. I will be creating an entry form soon, but if you can indicate whether you are coming, it would help enormously with the planning

So, to kick off:

Rupert Whelan, Minisail
Kathryn Whelan, Firefly
Charlie Whelan, Mirror
Pippa Whelan, Puffin

I believe, also from Whitefriars:
John and Jane Andrews, Skua
Matt Andrews, Skol Moth

Please leave your names and boats below!

Attached (I hope!) are printable PDF's of the National Rally entry form and information on the long weekend.

To enter, print off the form, fill it in with an old fashioned pen (remember them?), write out a cheque for the correct amount (details on the form) and send it to me at the address on the form. The form is also available from the Whitefriars Event page (Thanks Pat!)

Only a few weeks to go now, and in order to be able to organize everything for the right numbers (I'd hate for us to run out of lunch or beer) early entry would be appreciated, thank you!

Rupert I will be there for as long as I possibly can be....How many boats can I bring? As you are only down the road!

I might have 1 to race and one to potter around in.

I will see if I can get my mate Francis interested with his Firefly

Bring an extra boat to potter in - not a problem, so long as you get both boats out on the water for the photos! You aren't going to find 2 crews, then and race both?

Also, it has been pointed out to me that families entering multiple boats will find the entry fee getting fairly steep. I'd like to do something about this, probably involving fees for under 18's with a parent already entered being charged rather less, but not sure what is most fair? Any ideas welcome.
What I don't want to do is put anyone off because of cost. I've set the entry fee at £30 because I hope I'll cover expenses that way. If you can only do one of the racing days, or can only make it for treasure hunts and playing on the Sat, contact me and we'll figure something out.

Will we be seeing any Jollyboats at Whitefriars? We have a couple of 505's that race with no trouble (at least as far as the boats are concerned!), so the lake is big enough - would love to have them there!

I had your 'adverts' distributed with our club's weekly email.

It seems to have generated some interest.

Cheers

Not sure at the moment whether I can make it....and if I do....whether it will be in the Jollyboat or a single-hander.

Somehow suspect it is more likely to be a single-hander - maybe the Holt Canoe.
