Still impressed after a weekend of friendliness, hospitality and professionalism from the Bough Beech SC team. Thank you all.
And what a great bunch of people you are CVRDA members, it was a weekend not to forget.

Trevor and I are just cooking up an event report, which I will get posted here and on Y&Y as soon as we are happy with it!

It was great to see a fair few new faces at the event, with Chris in the Jollyboat, and also a Firefly from Chipstead. And wonderful to see some old faces back again, too. Nick Clibborn from Frensham Pond brought his Classic 14 for the Sunday - I hope we will see you at an event again soon, Nick!

Is there any chance my name can be corrected in the results? Spelled 'Alastair', not 'Alistair'.

Good day's sailing, shame we didn't manage to do the Sunday as well.

Thank you Rupert, we hope to be back soon. Thanks also for the report in Y&Y, though I thought being the only boat to actually compete in the Saturday race (and stay upright) might have been worth a mention.

Sorry, Nick, I wasn't aware of the Saturday goings on - too busy putting tent up to get onto the water - not sure what Trevor knew about from the Saturday race, either.

Pretty impressive, keeping a 14 the right way up with the huge gusty shifts we had on the first 2 days, though.
I know Ian really struggled in the Magnum 6 - we were sailing along at one point together, and hit a header big enough to send us head to wind. I was able to throw a tack in, but the Moth just stuck its wing under the water and then capsized to windward, with Ian's cries of dispair cut off as his head went under!

I had a great time, despite being accompanied by the boy boat breaker! It was very nice to be able to go out for gentle cruises in the Peril without the weird looks I get at Hunts and without being under any pressure to race. Neither the Peril nor I are quite up to that yet!

Thanks to all, especially the galley who provided superb choices of veggie food - sadly doesn't happen that often.

Kathryn voted the Yellow Peril as the boat she would most like to take home! (More sensibly I voted her the best looking on the land, as I'd not be wanting to re-glue all the seams as she springs slowly apart...)

Do I see the Yellow Peril given a faster handicap than my Skol on the results, or have I got my Moths muddled? If so I think that's more than a bit harsh if is used as a precedent.

Should have been off 108, as a provisional figure. If different, then something got mixed up somewhere. Not sure we have enough info yet to do anything but guess!

Thanks to everyone who made the National Rally such a fun and friendly event, I really must try to get to a few more events in future!
With regard to the Moth handicaps it looks as though the numbers for the Yellow Peril and the Purple Magnum have simply been muddled up. With my Magnum 6 on 92 a figure of 93 for the Magnum 5 and 108 for Nessas Peril would seem pretty reasonable as a start point until proven otherwise....
Well done to all the prizewinners especially Rupert, but not forgetting Sandy and Pat whose mark re-positioning was a definite highlight of the weekend!
Hope to see some of you at Bosham in a few weeks time.

I think Rupert suggested a modern pn of 1180 for the Peril, is that right? Now I have modeified her slightly I have to say she was great to sail. I just want to take her out again!

Having seen her, I'd say maybe 1200 might be a good starting point - I think you'll struggle to stay with a Comet, simply because you won't want to push her at all hard. Only one way of finding out, though!

I agree. Sadly I wouldn't actually expect the boat to be faster than a British Moth in most conditions, and in the days before they concentrated at specialist venues British Moth PY was above 1200.
