Nottingham 2012

Post by Penndennis »

Those of you who have kept an eye on this simple story of everyday folk, will know that the third episode of this short running saga will take place on 19/20 May. The average across the first two episodes was a great breeze and wonderful weather, so this time we are hoping to actually experience it.

Same format as before, racing will start with a pursuit race at 1200 hrs on Saturday 'just for fun'. The first General Handicap race will be at 1500hrs. Thereafter, there is an option, depending on the weather, for a cruise about a mile upstream to the nearest pub, before returning to the Club for supper and beer.

On Sunday, first race will be at 1100 hrs (civilised or what?), and the second at 1330 hrs. Prize-giving will follow, but is likely to bear only a passing relationship to the results. For those who want to stay, you are welcome to join the last Club race at 1530 hrs.

Cost is £5 per day per adult. Food and drink at cost. For those wanting to camp, there is some room inside the compound for tents, and the big campsite on the other side of the road is considered cheap and pretty good. Plenty to see and do in Nottingham if non-sailing groupies insist on coming with you.

Please let us know you are coming with an e-mail to secretary@nottinghamsc.org.uk, also known as yours truly.

Hoping to be there, daughter's flat purchase permitting. Looking forward to the perfect weather, although everything after the Finn Nationals at Falmouth will seem very tame!
