Crew Wanted

Post by Podolski »

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping to do the event at Shearwater on the 12th May. Unfortunately my crew has had to pull out.

Is anyone available or know anyone who would be available to crew?

You/they would be sailing MR3146

Cheers

Luke

Hi Luke we can normally find you a crew. I think I have already volunteered to crew but havent answered to phone call yet.
I will ask my daughter. Not very experienced and not very big( she is 27 but stopped growing) but is keen.

Hi Luke, Kaye says she would love to crew. She has done a fair bit of sailing as crew in Gps and helmed the Lark last year but she has no spinaker experience at all.
You will find it hardly ever pays to fly a kite there anyway.

Will you be staying for the Sunday Holt open (not just for Holt boats)?

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Unless you like hoisting and dropping practice - no time to actually fly it in between them!

Especially as I know which Laser sailor is on duty - look out for the "entertainment" gybe mark by the race box :)

There'll be nice cakes for tea too.

Im booked into b&b for sat night. would prefer to travel down friday is there a camp site or place to sleep in car near by?

Also whats the depth like please? wondering wether to go for lifting rudder or fixed for the weight saving.

Luke,

Depth is not usually a problem. You can launch from a jetty and only one place where you might touch the bottom. I will show you where.

I will check to see if Kaye can do both days but I may not be there Sunday.

The local pub sometimes lets people camp Bath Arms at Crockerton 01985 212262 good food but a bit pricey. We normally use the George at Longbridge Deverill who I think also let you camp for the night. 01985 840396. Good pub grub and the cow pie is worth a visit.

Yeah I can camp at the George.

Do you know about the Sunday yet?

Also do you know if anyone else is staying the Friday?

Cheers

If it's company on Friday, there's enough of us local to go for a beer.
Shearwater is open all hours now for fishing so no problem dumping the boat, but please bring a chain or bike lock to lock it to the dinghy park fence as sometimes late night visitors like launching boats for kicks.

Yeah carry a chain allways when travelling. Chain through the centerboard case too. I get a little paranoid, can never be too careful.

Yeah meeting up sounds like a good plan to me.

Roger did you manage to find out about Sunday? As i'd like to sail both days

I could float this amongst the more experienced youngsters at West Wilts. I've already bagged one to be my crew on the Saturday.
