Ian Proctor Spectrum?

Post by Nigel »

Hi all,

I am interested in people's opinions on this. Is it a classic with a place in dinghy history or is it something else?

I still haven't made up my mind.

Have any of our Scots contingent seen it in the flesh?

Best Regards,

Nigel

Nigel,

wow...now tat is what I think we should slaute as a 'lost class'.

What a shame that the owner wants so much for it though - that seems a whole lot of dosh for a sailing 'curio'.

be interested to see it afloat though

It's a relatively new boat though. I saw it at Earl's Court a few years ago. I't very similar to a ToY and apparently was being built under license from the Proctor family.

I think it was Porter's building them so technically they are still in production and not a lost class.

Hello chaps. I felt I could actually contribute something instead of just lurking.
There's a Spectrum sailed at WeirWood nearly every Sunday morning by our membership secretary. I reckon it could go quite well with all the rags up. I'll ask him if I can have a go.

Cheers

Pierre - Hope you are still on here!

Do you have access to any pictures of the Spectrum that used to sail at WWSC? If not, do you have contact details for the guy (your sailing sec?) who used to sail it - most people have a pictures somewhere of their boat.

Cheers

Robert,

I'm hopeful that Bosham will be getting a Spectrum along to the Gala event in June and can get some pictures then - but I want this for the dinghy show!

I've not come up with anything yet and have trawled all my usual sources and then some others as well - those pics that exist are very poor quality

Cheers

David, I'll ask around and see what's what. Not sure it's still at the club but I will track down the chap who had it.
