Lidl again!!

Post by Garry R »

Check this out if you want a roomy lightweight low cost cover to keep dust off your Albacores/Merlins/Fireflies/pianos/harpsicords etc in the garage over the winter. Got a couple of these last year and they are really good. Elasticated at the bottom and the larger one easily covers my Merlins to floor level all round. At £7.99 you couldn't buy the materials for the money. They stow away in the little zipped bag that comes with it like a sleeping bag stuffing sack and take up no room in the rest of the year.

Looks like a bargain! My retail discovery for today has been Screwfix - soooo much cheaper for sanding stuff. I shall never go to B&Q, Homebase, Focus etc again!

Got a couple of these covers last year - maybe I'm unusual but I use mine to cover the car when frost is expected so I'm not scraping ice at 7a.m.

I just bought a £7.99 Lidl soldering iron, with a cutting attachment that is just great for cutting and sealing those ropes.

Aldi are also worth keeping an eye on. I bought a gas torch there which also has a hot knofe attachment for £24 and it works better than my mate's £30 hot knife :).

I cannot speak of the efficacy of Lidl but my significant other went there yesterday whilst I was having a hand operation and bought lots of things, I at any rate will never need, being an International Businesswoman she was shocked to find they wanted money for trolleys (No baskets apparently and seing the amount I am not surprised.) she tried a Euro, tghen a Danish Crown before settling on a 50 cent piece! I suggested a pound would have been right! However I gather it is a good thing as soon as I can drive I plan a man type expedition.

Both Lidl and Aldi have (twice) weekly "specials". I always keep an eye on these via the computer as there is usually something I did not know I needed.

Both on the web at:

and

They also have the cheapest wine and beer - Hobgoblin, Spitfire and Bishop's Finger at £1 a bottle this week and the South African Merlot makes for a pleasant evening! Just stocked up for Christmas (if I can hide it away from the men for long enough!)

Thanks for the tip off for the car covers, I have problems keeping a soft top Saab under the trees where a certain pair of pesky  pigeons sit and poop all over it. Oh yes the boat will get the second one.
They do ratchet straps this week at £5.99 for 4, great, (even more to get tangled up )
