Drain plug assembly(s)

Post by Michael4 »

Before I fork out for a new one (or two) does anyone have an old garboard drain plug assembly in bronze or gunmetal?

By this I mean the fitting and plug that goes into the floor of the boat and not the transom.

ID of the hole in the fitting 1/2" to 3/4", planking thickness around 3/8" but I am sure I can make most things work.

Two would be fantastic, one would be excellent. It is the sort of thing one would strip out when scrapping an old clinker boat...

I found two Albacore bungs on the dining table last week! Came out of a pocket after draining the boat at Baltic wharf.
And then we sailed off last time without a bung though it was in a different boat.

World's most expensive drain plug assembly with 'captive' plug now installed.

Well, it is the right thing for the application but isn't it extraordinary how difficult it is to find a few clear inches in the right place in the bottom of a clinker boat...
