Wanted - thin strip of mahogany

Post by Craig N » Sat Apr 05, 2008 6:43 pm

Hi Everyone,

Wondering if anyone might have a thin strip of mahogany hanging around that they would like to get rid of. I need a piece 22mm x 22mm x 350mm to repair my Ent, and am willing to pay if someone has something suitable.

Thanks in advance,

Craig

Hi Craig

I probably have a bit of something from the 70's, from South America I'd guess, that could be cut down to suit. Nice rich red tones when varnished. Do you need it finished/planed to the exact size or just a bit of oversize material to work with? Which bit of the Ent. are you repairing/replacing? Where abouts in the country are you?

Hi Jools,

I have attached a photo of the part of the Ent that I am replacing.
It is a support that is screwed to the floor (from the outside). I will
actually need two of these strips, as upon further inspection the
first one also has a crack and needs replacing. I have some excess
11mm marine ply that I could conceivably laminate together to create
the thickness required, but I don't know how this would go structurally.

Any opinions or advice most welcome.

Cheers,

Craig

I have a piece 43cm x 5.8cm x 3.2cm which you will need to cut lengthways to get your two pieces out of it in nice old mahogany. Drop me your address and I'll pop it in the post tomorrow or as soon as I get it packed. I'm in Aberdeen.
