still there with no bids. I'm surprised that no one here has any use for this............. or are you all lurking, waiting for the last few minutes?

Re: old school moth rig on the bay
it's on my watch list...
edit to say I have emailed to ask more precisely where he is. 'South coast' is a bit vague since it is collection only!

I don't know if this helps but I'm currently in exile over on the Island...so if you want this collecting and then bringing over to the mainland I can do that without any problems....

Re: old school moth rig on the bay
Hi,
It would appear that a few of us Moth enthusiasts are watching this item on the bay and may end up bidding against each other. Which of us is after what part of the package e.g. mast boom or sail. I am not really that interested in the sail although it would make a handy spare, however, I would like a better mast for my old moth so that I can use the tall rig sail that I have already got. If the other interested parties only want one of the items then maybe we can arrange something?
Cheers
Ian M

Re: old school moth rig on the bay
For your info. , and if it's any help to anyone , this is being sold by Ray Hutchings ... It's the original sail from Billabong , my Imperium Aussie scow Moth. The guy who built her up north , sailed her once , frightened himself whilst doing so , then stored the boat and rig for 30+ years.
I believe that was the one and only time that sail was used.
The boom is also from my scow & the Needlespar mast is from Ray's Red Ned Aussie scow.
Regards ,
Len

len....
ray Hutchings...now that name rings a bell! Did he at one time sail Unicorns at Weston?
I know I will take a rap for topic drift but... where are you on the Island? Are there any other classicers over here and if so, do you ever meet up?
best regards

Re: old school moth rig on the bay
I'm from the Island , but currently living in south Florida , although I get back to my parents place in Shorwell several times a year , when we'll get the Aussie scows Moths' out at Hamstead.
I don't think Ray sailed Unicorns at Weston.
His was into Cherubs & Moths ( and others ) in the 70s.
He took his winged Aussie scow Moth to the Roadford event a couple of years ago , when the wind was up.
Ray sailing Muff Diver II in 1974 & Billabong in 2011 ;

Ray's head of hair only departed because he lopped it off for charity , and his wife liked it.
