Nationals 2012.

Post by roger »

The Nationals in 2012 will be held at Bough Beech in Kent over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

A lovely large lake with camping on site. A very friendly club with a very organised race team. I am sure Trevor, owner of Jolly Boat 9, will add more details as they become available.

It is easy to get to just off the M25.

A bit of a move away from our more usual venues so hopefully we will see some new faces.

Well, it's after that blasted sports day that's happening in London that her indoors is so preoccupied with, so hopefully she/I/we will make it with something or another.

Kathryn, Charlie and I sat in the pub at lunchtime and worked out that maybe, just maybe we can get 3 boats down to BB this August, behind one car... Minisail on the roof, Firefly and Mirror behind. Then Charlie remembered that the club owns a triple trailer - might have to do some sweet talking!

Anyone else planning the August Bank Holiday yet?!

Preparations are well under way for the Nationals. Camping on site will be available from Saturday to Monday and for those looking to stay locally there are plenty of B & Bs. This one is very good and local:- http://www.visitkent.co.uk/stay/thedms. ... SV&miles=5

The club now has a very good galley and the plan is to offer dinner on the Saturday and Sunday evening, the bar will be open and entertainment provided.

For non sailors Hever Castle, Chartwell, Penshurst Place and Ightham Motte are all close by.

Hope to bring Hornet 610 to Nationals. It is within striking distance for us but is the weekend after the Hornet Nationals. .

Great news Jim, two plankers out. Last seen at Netley some time ago. Hopefully Shoestring will survive the Hornet nats(Dawn hasnt broken her) and still be in one piece for Bough Beech.

Planning to be there with the Finn and the camper. Hoping summer might have arrived by then and the wooden mast can get an airing!
