Farirey Duckling Designer?
Farirey Duckling Designer?
Theere's a photo of a Fairey Duckling on the Percy Blandford Appreciation Society Facebook page, and the question has been asked about who designed the Duckling. Does anyone here know?
Re: Farirey Duckling Designer?
Wasn't this one of Uffa Fox's post war designs?
Re: Farirey Duckling Designer?
You are right, it never occurred to me that it was a Uffa Design

Neil..........
It may not be as simple as that I'm afraid. By the time of the Duckling, much of the closeness between Faireys and UF had passed. I can see that the original idea came over from Cowes but almost certainly Alan Bernard would (by then) have been involved. For sure he was with the Dinky - the small brother of the Duckling. The hull shape on the Dinky had to be modified so that it would go through the doors set in the transom of a Huntsman 28!, with tehse changes being done in house!

The design is on the Uffa Fox site, http://www.uffafox.com/duckling.htm
Re: Farirey Duckling Designer?
Certainly an Uffa design. Faireys will have adapted it for the various incarnations of rowing and sailing, I'd think.
