Off topic I know...
Honest guys I am NOT a trailer nut!
Having said that the bomb trolleys that are often used to store boats in certain marinas have something of an appeal...all those hydraulics remind me of classic Citroens. I assume they are from the cold war period? I'm sure some ex RAF people will let me know...all that highly specified and incredibly expensive construction slowly rotting away...

My OH (Sandy) IS a trolley and trailer nut and is building, refurbishing and altering quite a few lately - somewhat "Trigger's broom" as the steel often gets replaced then the suspension units..... but they are still old trailers.

For those of us 'on the higher plane of trailer appreciation' I thought you might appreciate a picture of the original trailer attachment straps and their fittings! (two pairs on right)

So nice to see W3 on water!
Is she in fact sitting on the bottom, or afloat? If afloat, then she has not put on weight over the years which is a surprise... she is floating much lighter in the water than most Wayfarers I have seen.

She was sitting in about 3 feet of water with the CP up, so she should have been free floating.
Being dry for 40 years may contribute, and as it was a sea trials day she had no excess gear aboard.

What a beauty, reminds me of the one I had a hand in helping build 50 years ago at North Walsham Secondary Modern School, Norfolk.
I was then fortunate enough to help sail it on the Broads as a few of the teachers were proficient sailors. Plus usually met a nice gal and we often cycled to, sailed and returned on our bikes.
When I got back into sailing after 30 years and did a couple of RYA courses it was in Wayfairers.

Beware old tyres - they have a limited lifespan regardless of wear and many on boat trailers are still being used well past that. There is a date letter on them that indicates when they should be scrappedsjgrobbins wrote:Not only the original trailer but the original tyres as well!! Getting a bit thin now

Trailer is currently awaiting restoration, although both suspension and tyres are in remarkably good shape as they have been dry stored in dark away from UV light.
For now she travels on a Welsh Harp Wayfarer combi trailer, and the original will be tidied up for the 2018 Ian Proctor 100th Birthday.

Although remarkably functional for its age, the trailer will go through a strip down and re-assembly, so for sure tyres will be changed probably to new 6 ply - currently 1957 cross ply!
Dry and idle in a barn until then with Welsh Harp combi taking the strain.
