Hi ctyquin,

Afraid we don't really sail the Int12 much here in the UK, so I don't think anyone is going to pick up on this.

The guys who sail the Int12 are the Dutch and the Italians.

A quick look at the Italian Class rules does give some guidance though:

http://www.12footdinghy.org/pdf/rules/it2009.pdf

"The diameter of the circular cross-section or the smaller axis of the elliptical cross-section shall
range from 50 mm to 71 mm. The larger axis of the elliptical cross-section cannot exceed 71 mm.

If the mast is tapered, taper is permitted 1400 mm above the upper face of the mast bench, totalling
600 mm from the mast base. The mast can be tapered down to 50 mm in diameter."

The dutch rules don't seem to specify any tolerances for taper, but simply say:

"Maximum diameter half way is 58 mm. It is maximal 41 mm at the inside of the bottom of the
measurement ribbon and it is maximal 35 mm at the inside of the upper measurement ribbon. At the
bottom end of the gaff one should fix a not moveable clip for the fastening of the upper part of the
front leech of the sail."

Not quite sure these are the same. Would need to think about it.

Seems to be quite a bit of material on the website and from the Italian national sites at http://www.dinghy.it/

Pity we don't sail em.

I rather like them
