British Moth
British Moth
There is some interest at my local club (Rickmansworth) in British Moths and I am keen to help get a fleet going. If you have an old British Moth around the £300 mark, ideally not too far away and perhaps needing some TLC, then please do message me. I have also posted on BMBA website and am keeping an eye on the Bay. Many thanks as ever.
Re: British Moth
I suspect the one in my sig may be a bigger project than you want to consider...
Re: British Moth
I'm afraid it does look at bit too much of a project for me - but thanks for suggesting it!

Re: British Moth
I have one that is probably better sold than hanging on to it.
Its at Whitefriars SC on the Wiltshire/Gloucester border (A419). Built in 1962.
Best of British (BoB).
Cheap boat, will be fine with a bit of fetling over the winter. Unused all year.
Includes a cover and a launching trolley. Good sail.

Hi Steve, sounds good. Do you have any photographs you could send me on [email protected] please? Is the hull all ok? Many thanks, Gavin

Re: British Moth
Its slightly dejected after having been ignored all year, but is solid with no rot.
However, I will get the cover off it this weekend, chase the spiders out of it, give it a wash and have a sail in it.
I will get some pictures to you, when I get home.
We put a decent mast on it a couple years ago and it came with a decent sail. The cover is functional, but not perfect. My son bought some new nicknacks ( halyards, etc) for it this year but has yet to fit them. I have a choice of trolleys, a light weight fold-able one, and another that needs a little adjustment to make the boat sit more neatly on it. Either one - as is.
Its a running restoration, a goer but in need of tidying/cleaning. I.e. something you can make your mark on.
Cheers
Steve

Re: British Moth
In the ball park of the figure you mentioned above, certainly not more.
Best you come and see it and we can arrive at a figure we are both happy with.
Cheers

Re: British Moth
OK great - which weekend day suits you best? Possibility I could come over sometime this weekend, but more likely next weekend if that would be OK.

Re: British Moth
This weekend or next is fine with me - you have my number. Evenings is best.
You will need a trailer if you want to take it away, unless you have the where-withal to put it on the car roof.
Cheers

Re: British Moth
Thanks again - possibility I could come over this Saturday late afternoon (tomorrow), but more likely a week on Sunday if that's OK. I've got a decent road base and the means to lash a trailer to it. Will give you a call to arrange. All Best, Gavin

Got your message. Catch you next week.
Gave it a bit of scrub.
Needs a bit of tlc though. Abit of varnish and paint should be all though.
Cheers

Re: British Moth
BM 459 is now in my garage awaiting some TLC, many thanks to Steve and the CVRDA forum. Still interested in buying more Moths - it's becoming a bit of an obsession.
