New Sail

Post by PeterV »

What's the forum's view of sailmakers? I need to get a jib made for the Swift, is Morgan sails the place to go as R&J sails don't seem to be responding to enquiries any more.

I like Ian Morgan's sails, but no idea if there are catamaran sail specialists out there who would cut it better through experience?

Dolphin sails made a lot of Cat sails for the Minnis Bay Condor fleet when I was a member there. They always looked pretty decent and reasonably priced as far as I remember, but that was a while ago. If they are still going it may be worth enquiring anyway?
Really impressed with the fantastic job you have made of the Swift by the way and I look forward to seeing it on the water.
By the way I would suggest that the larger of the two jibs that you acquired with the boat probably came from a 470 looking at the outline and panel layout. The majority of 470 sails seem to be Norths so it may have been a cast off from an ex Olympic boat at some stage.

Regards

R&J sails moved a year or two ago. Have you got an out of date contact? They did some good work for me a while ago.

Chris, they still have a sign at Clevedon but I tried contacting them on their web address with no response. Two quotes so far and Morgan sails are ahead.
I've also been looking on eBay but I haven't seen a sail that comes close yet.
