Early Heron

Post by jules22 »

I am losing my indoor storage so............... The Heron is for sale, Number 17 all original and very sound woodwork.

I have fixed the rudder while in my care, it now needs some new ropes and a couple of repairs to the buoyancy bags.

Please keep them in touch with cvrda. I can put them in touch with Mike, the original builder too, if I can work out his address - I can drive there but don't know the street name or number!

The Chap is a serial heron restorer buy the sound of things, he appreciates just how original it is and said he will not over restore it !.

He had the heron association people coming to look over it.

I Did tell him to take a look here. :D

I don't know. Perhaps he enjoys restoring boats more than sailing them? I must say she does look in good nick.

I messaged him to ask why. He says she has "major structural problems and will need lots of work, to much for me"

I thought she was really sound TBH , so who knows. Looking at ebay he has made a small profit already, no mention of any issues in his listing .

Odd then that he should claim she's in good condition in the Fleabay ad then. Although that trailer looks like it could cause problems. Wooden boats like that are designed to take most of the weight on the keel. And it looks like he withdrew her from sale. He might have got an offer to deal outside of Ebay and avoid the commission (it does happen). Very odd.

I also messaged him as we were involved with the original re-homing and he replied that he had now found a good home for her in Norfolk- someone he knew and who once owned Heron 73. That accounts for the withdrawal from e-bay and is far more satisfactory.
