For anyone who hasn't seen it elsewhere, Paul Elvstrøm, the greatest of them all, is no longer with us.

Anyone who sailed a boat with a plunger type self bailer should be thankful to Paul Elvstrom for making them obsolete.

Sad to hear - very much one of the greats in so many classes and an innovator in sailmaking and boat and accessory design.

One of the true greats. A sportsman who took the time to answer an eleven year old's questions at the 1963 Earls Court Boat Show and gave advice I have never forgotten.

Hi
Meet this very generous man once at Kiel week when I lived in Hamburg and sailed a Tornado with my then girl friend. What pleasant person he was very friendly and offered tuning advice/assistance freely to anyone who asked. May he RIP.

No, I had missed that.

Somewhere I have a signed 'PE explains the Racing Rules'......even with both the little boats still with it.

sigh..
