What next?

Post by Michael4 »

There is a space in our garage. This is surely a symptom of lack of boats, a rare condition...

So what next? Something small with some interest attached, either wood or maybe a grp 'lost cause'. Fairly trad, not too tippy, sit in not on, shorter than 14ft.

That Silver Streak that sold recently looked interesting. I've not long missed out on an early gunter Gull, I still have a hankering after an 11+ and for some indefinable reason the Fleetwind appeals...

What else should I be looking out for?

I have had a look at a couple of these, they are either, thin as a biscuit tin or about 6mm thick, home built of course.

I'm near Chichester, I don't think that Express will tempt me all the way to Wigan. I like the idea of something called Man 'o' War but no, not for me, too 'sit on' rather than 'sit in'

How about a vintage Heron?

Gunter rigged.

I used to have one , to which I fitted a Cadet Spinnaker.

Or a Miracle, even.?

Sorry I currently have neither.

Surely this would be perfect.

Unquestionable olympian pedigree, great head turner, very manageable project and totally in keeping with the water you sail on!

Sit in hull, white sails only and will be great as a learning boat if new generations head your way. (Think of taking this on picnic trips to East Head! :D )

I would snap it up if I had a chance but I have 3 projects (at least) already! Its just down the road in Southampton. pm me if you want company to (egg you on) go for a look. :)

A fine craft indeed however I reckon I am spoken for. More soon.

Anyway, being uncharacteristically sensible today, it is too big and would need a mooring and longer garage, I fear it might also be too much for the Cobnor winch.

Excellent though, looks like it would proudly scatter the ISC fleet of XODs.

Indeed I had thought to say that. They weren't too keen on the idea of the Swift so I suspect this offensive weapon might raise an eyebrow or two.

I have my next project. Jim's 11+ has arrived in my garage together with a set of plans courtesy of Rupert. Will start a thread as and when.
