Re: Hunts in June
That getting the old boats sailing is more important than winning races, that people care for their old boats and expect you to do the same so don't put anyone in a boat damaging situation.
That socialising is an important part and you can learn and impart lots by talking to people.
That there is camping and bar on site and either organised food or a group walk to a pub.
That the buoys have a rainbow of coloured flags but you always go round them in the same colour order which I can't remember.
That you'll be welcome and we'll be looking out for you.
What else?

That Nessa, Nicky and the gang at Hunts will be incredibly welcoming and there will be cake!
Racing is competitive, but I'm pretty sure hardly anyone remembers who wins, but we all remember the boats.

Re: Hunts in June
I'm interested in coming. Can you launch a Fifteen?
What time does the fun start? I'll be coming down from North Yorkshire.

If you can't launch a fifteen at Hunts you will be very welcome at Aldeburgh the following weekend where we may have up to 10 FF's sailing in our Classic Weekend

Hi Graham
You would also be very welcome at Roadford. I'll be sailing my ff and there should be aleast another racing. Launching is easy on the slipway and there are pontoons to tie up to.
Hope to see you there.
Should you need anymore details please contact me, my details are on the Roadford section on the main page.

Re: Hunts in June
Thanks to Suffolk Merlin and Alan Williams for their offers.
Unfortunately I won't be able to make either as 16-17th June is the Fifteen Classic Nationals at Llangorse and the Roadford date clashes with the Fifteen Northern Travellers at Bassenthwaite.
At the moment I have marked Hunts, Hykeham, Banbury and Bosham as CVRDA events I'd like to attend this year if I can.
I've been to Aldeburgh twice for Fifteen events and enjoyed it very much, but Roadford is one I do want to come to so perhaps next year. There's only so much you can do after all!
Looking forward to meeting up with you all anyway at some point.

Re: Hunts in June
Graham - you should add Clywedog to that list as it has a resident FF fleet and has the space and is easily reached via Shrewsbury.

Re: Hunts in June
No fifteens at Hunts I’m afraid, the lake isn’t big enough for keelboats.

Re: Hunts in June
Sorry to hear that, Nessa, but thanks for letting me know.
Interestingly, the Fifteen only draws 2'6", whereas the Albacore draws 4'. They also have an active Fifteen fleet at Broxbourne, not a lake you would normally think of as big enough for a Fifteen, but it gives great racing and places a premium on boat handling. Sadly, the Alb isn't going to be sailing any time soon as I took the winter covers off and even though she stayed bone dry over the winter, found she needs some work, which I won't have time to complete by the time of your event.
Have a great event anyway.

Re: Hunts in June
It’s a club rule I’m afraid. I can ask special permission, but I expect I’d be turned down, which is crazy. Because we allow equally big Dinghies.....I will see what I can do, but don’t hold your breath.
