Proctor jib halyard sheave

Post by GP14 2629 »

Hello all, the jib halyard sheave has seized in our Proctor mast of unknown vintage. The pulley has deformed under load so it won't turn any more. It may have been like this a while.

The sheave pulley is approx 30mm dia, 5mm wide and the sheave box screw holes are 70mm centres apart. This doesn't seem to match the modern Selden boxes, who I gather took over Proctor's spars business.

How would the forum go about replacing or repairing? Or should I just ignore it?

The boat has come to us with a 12:1 cascade to apply epic rig tensions, which the sheave might not be designed for, although I am nervous about the original mast step so haven't cranked it on hard.
