AGM - 3. Commodore's Report 2020

Post by Pat »

As everyone has said it's been an unusual year. We ended the 2019 on a high with an enjoyable 20th anniversary event at Roadford - again thanks to Ed, Alan and all who were involved in organising and also to those who just pitched in and helped where needed, moving furniture, manning the committee boat and generally making things happen.

Lockdown brought an increase in renovation activity as more people found time to work on old boats and more boats appeared on the scene as barns and buildings were sorted out and stored boats came to light. I think we will need more concourse prizes next year! As a result of this activity more people have looked on line for advice and found us and FaceBook traffic has increased considerably and helped members keep in contact without being able to meet at events.

We have also made contact with classic dinghy groups in both France and Australia and seeing some interesting old craft. Clubs are now starting to open up to events and have worked out how to operate in a Covid safe way so we hope that 2021 events will be able to take place and all the restorations and renovations can be sailed.
