I thought this might be a Jewel sailed at the Walton and Frinton Yacht Club. I saw this was for a sale a few days ago and forwarded it to a friend at the club. The club members have been buying these back and putting them back on the water. Very commendable.

I like the hull drainage system....................... holes drilled in the garboard!

As it says.....made by Lew Walker....he who made the Tideway.

They did make a 14ft boat also......and I guess this is one of them.

as I am in process of my yearly job of scraping inside of Tideway to put on river.....I can only give my heart-felt condolences to the new owner.....all those planks....all those ribs....all those rivets....and all so small...god what a nightmare.

cheers

I have a mast and sails that came from a 14ft clinker dinghy if any one buys her.

It might be worth giving AG's walnuts a try. It is something of which I have made a mental note for future use.

Simples Nessa,
Crushed walnut shells in a sand blaster rather than sand strip varnish bacl to bare wood quickly cleanly and efficiently (The inside of a wooden Dragon in a morning!).
Pumice powder if you are cleaning ready for varnishing or painting the inside of a hull a pound of pumice powder to a 14 a coupla buckets of water and a yard broom swirl it all about for about 30 mins hose the lot out and it's ready for varnish/paint.

Lew Walker built Tideways and Dayboats as I recall, although I can't remember a dayboat having an aft deck like that. I used to spend all my pocket money in his chandlery next to the workshop to keep my Swift and Finn going!
