The plan is to bring the new old Furball and Stu has threatened to sail with me. So looking forward to seeing you all there. Pat I need a handicap for a furball without trap or kite please.

Re: Baltic Wharf 16 Nov
I'm thinking of going with the Moth. (Mag7) Weather permitting. Never been to Baltic Wharf but it looks a fascinating place to try and sail a moth, so why not?
Can anyone advise on parking and launching facilities? I would have to drive down for the day so early start from the midlands to make a 10.30 start.

It has got a trapeze, are you allowed a different handicap just because you haven't fixed it yet?roger wrote:Pat I need a handicap for a furball without trap or kite please.

Hi Lyndon,
Parking is easy(don't think you have to pay ) and launching is also simple with a Jetty for those who don't want to get their feet wet. The car park is very close to the slip and the pub (for lunch)is just next door and they are used to wet people. The changing facilities are a bit basic but its a friendly club and sailing the head of the dock race up past SS Great Britain is lovely if frustrating in the light stuff.
Simon I am planning to keep her without the trap for the moment. I haven't even put the mast up yet!!!!

Re: Baltic Wharf 16 Nov
Changing facilities aren't as bad as Roger makes out - they're always warm and the showers are nice and hot.
But lock your kit back in your car once you've changed.
Is it a genuinely original furball from before they had traps and kites (like no 6)?

David H took the unit and fell over(literally) a lot, and one year we had a squall that took nearly every boat on the water out.
So you will not be alone.
But its not advisable to swallow when submerged

It is almost that original. No kite and she did have a trap but I am not at present intending to put it back on. So more or less like number 6.Pat wrote:.

Re: Baltic Wharf 16 Nov
Actually, FB341 is more original than FB6. When I found 6 she was in a poor state: lying undecked and full of leaves and water in a garden in Chichester. Renovation proved a bigger job than envisaged and she ended up being re-skinned. At that time she was retro-fitted to 1962 spec. FB66 is also more original than 6 and there are quite a few similar examples (numbers 1XX) looking for good homes if anyone's interested!

Well the boat floats, no major leaks, just self bailers and c/b bolt needs tightening. Tanks are dry which is great news. Roll on Saturday

Pat.... I think Fireball Number 6 was raced on a PY of either 1042 or 1052 at Bosham.

Re: Baltic Wharf 16 Nov
In club handicap racing FB6 sails off 1046. As David suggests, she was given a slightly more generous figure at Bosham.
