Just had this enquiry through - can anyone help, please?
Subject:
SeaFox and FaireyFox
Message:
I am writing to you on behalf of the owner of Seafox, who is
considering restoring and sailing her. He would also like to locate
FaireyFox, and wondered if you have any idea where she is.

mmmmm.....my memory on this is, and I really might be wrong, or have Fairey Fox mixed up with another of Uffa's one-off boats....is that....
The owners some time in the 90's or so asked a boat-builder to quote for having Fairey Fox rebuilt. He came back saying that there was little point as it would be cheaper to start again. So another Fairey Fox was commissioned, which came to either the MDL Fairey 50th year regatta...or the Uffa Fox centenary. It was being sailed with 4 or 5 up and 3 or 4 on the wire and was very impressive. I think it was sailing on the solent somewhere and was sailed rather than towed in to regatta.
The question is: "What happened to the original?" Not totally sure, but suspect that it was broken up, or maybe had the thwart/transom (or whatever) re-used for reasons of provenance.

Yes, hunch confirmed by this page:
http://www.wightstay.co.uk/clubs/uffa.html
and relevant bit:
"An unusual entry was a 1996 version of the Fairey Fox, a 24 footer designed originally for Prince Philip to be carried aboard Britannia but now sporting four trapezes and a bowsprit!"
but more digging would be required to find out more.
cheers
