"Moth Dervin"

Post by Alan P. »

Hello All.

Found this listing on the amazing French site Leboncoin.

There are only three pictures but looks nothing like any Moth I've ever seen. But then, I'm no Moth expert. Far from it. Would be interested in what the Moth brigade on CVRDA think of it.

I'm no expert but as a B Moth owner and sailor at Medley Oxford where we have quite a few, that's no Moth! I have seen a few photos of euro Moths but they all seem to be broadly similar to the BM hull form.

I had a feeling it wasn't a Moth. On Leboncoin there are sometimes listings by people who clearly don't know what they have got. Bit like Ebay. Interesting all the same.

There have been a lot of classes called Moth. It's an obvious enough name!

Hi All, the French moth fleet did have a lot of more classical looking boats and some wonderful devices so yep, that's a moth. 11' long and less than 7'4 wide...

It seems Henri Dervin was a major French yacht and boat designer, born 1903, D 1966.
